Two words that make a world of difference in your life and mine. One speaks of relationship, the other focuses on character. One is what I enjoy, the other is what I am.
The apostle John is a man who knows what he is talking about. He sees intimacy as something that happens in our lives when we are walking in the light, he sees integrity as something that we become as we learn to live in the light.
Rick Warren of The Purpose Driven Church hit the nail on the head when he said, ‘The world thinks intimacy occurs in the dark, but God says real intimacy occurs in the light!’ To me, there is no intimacy without integrity!
In his own inimitable way, and with a stroke of inspirational genius, John urges us to be people of intimacy and integrity. He wants us to embrace the best of both worlds. For him, there is no better way to live. There is no realistic alternative to living in the light.
