The Lord Jesus stated that many who professed to be His disciples were actually counterfeits (Matt 7v21-23). He emphasized this fact by highlighting the issue of false profession in at least 6 of His parables. Has this problem disappeared, or could it be that 2,000 years later the situation is actually worse than ever?
In the evangelical scene today there are many professing Christians who cannot point to an experience of conversion at any time in their life. Then there is another large group who simply prayed a 'sinners prayer', raised their hand, signed a decision card or had hands laid on them, but who were never once awakened to their lost guilty condition and truly converted.
This book explains the causes and identifies the symptoms of false profession. It acts both as a wake up call and a pointer to true salvation in Christ. The Bible says "Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith or not" (II Cor 13v5).
